MG MGA - MGA Twin Cam engine backing plate

My brother is restoring an mga twin cam and is looking for a rear engine plate... The twin cam has the "high starter" opening... not sure if late MGA, early MGB is the same or not?

Hi Gordon The backplate on a twin cam is the same as a 1600 (high starter position) and late 1500's, I'm not sure about 3 brg B engine's, I know that the 1600 backplate fits a 1800 3 brg engine as I have one in my coupe. Hope this helps.

Yes, I do believe the MGB 3 main plate will work. There was a lengthy discussion about this very issue on the Twin Cam BBS just this week.

Gordon, I can confirm that that 1800 3 bearing back plate is different, I looked at one of my spares today. The starter position is lower
