MG MGA - MGA In Donald Campbell:Speed King

For the archives I thought I would put this one in its own thread.

I have just watched Donald Campbell:Speed King on BBC4. In one scene Donald welcomes American Craig Breedlove into his house. Breedlove had just become the fast man on land. Outside the window is a white MGA Roadster with its hood up.

Thanks for the heads up up on the program Steve, just found it on iplayer and will watch it later.

I have not seen it before and I am looking forward to watching it.

My only concern is that I hope I find it more interesting than you did.

Well you must have gotten bored with it, otherwise why we're you looking out of the window to spot the mga? :-)

Getting trained at looking in the background at these historical programmes. An E-Type appears quite frequently, plus a few other classics.

As an aside in the 1990s I actually applied to drive the ThrustSSC landspeed record car being built by Richard Noble (the then world record holder). My application stated that I had about 800 hours flying Rolls Royce Spey reheated engines that were being installed in the car; about 1500 hours dedicated low flying, some of it greater than 0.9M at 100ft; and if the car was fitted with an ejector seat I had practical experience of that too! Unfortunately my application got delayed in the post and he had closed his short list, but retained my details in case of drop-outs. He also said that because, at the time, the company I was working for was considering a rival car in collaboration with Maclaren he could not employ me. Never heard any more on the subject although I did meet Richard socially a few times.
