MG MGA - Mazda Gear Box Conversion

I have seen recently that a UK company, Vitesse, is offering a complete Mazda MX5 gearbox conversion for the MGB. Just wondering if anyone has contacted the company to enquire if their kit, that includes bell housing, clutch etc, will mate straight into the MGA?

If not I might drop them an email. Perhaps they have an MGA version in the pipeline?

I read about this a couple of months ago Steve.
Apparently it is being supplied by a UK company, back then they only had the MGB bell-housing but apparently aN MGA bell-housing was under development.

Sounds like a good long term solution to the growing shortage of T9 boxes.

Apparently they have an MGA Version in the works:

We gave new product priority to our V8 MGB kit which we are glad to say is selling very well.

This in turn slowed work on the MGA. However we expect to be able to offer a prototype up to a car by the end of February with a view to launching at MG Live in early June.

But, apparently at a much greater cost than the T9.

I was in touch with them last year, as I would dearly love a 5 speed for my conventional 1622cc. But the product wasn't quite up to speed then (if you excuse the pun!)

They said:-
"We are still working on a kit for the MGA. We have a chassis and a few MGA backplates and gearboxes in the workshop, and are making some headway.....
Rear mount is key for us right now, to ensure that no chassis modifications are required.
Have a look at https://shop.vitesse-ltd.com/products/mgb-5-speed-mazda-gearbox-conversion-k to see the quality of our product."
