MG MGA - Master Cylinder

Have begun the process of putting the car back together. Am on the master cylinder at the moment.
I have cleaned and rebuilt it, with new seals, springs etc. Tested on the bench and apart from a bit of sticking (which I sorted) it was working fine.
Have popped it on the car and successfully bled the new brake system.

Problem has occurred with the clutch system the piston is moving up and down the cylinder but does not seem to be pushing any fluid up through the banjo bolt, pipe etc. I have taken some of the fluid out so I can see down into the Master Cylinder.

Inside each side of the MC, it has a small hole that allows the fluid to pass down into each cylinder. This hole is perfectly clear, but what is puzzling me is that I can see the piston through the hole and when the piston is fully retracted I cannot see any way that the fluid can pass down in front of the seal that sits at the front of the piston - i.e the hole sits above the piston collar... How then can I hope to get fluid into the clutch pipe etc ..

What is going wrong ?????

How does that compare to the brake side?

Have you adjusted the rods so that the piston can fully release. These rods should be a little loose, just so they "rattle" just a bit when the pedal is fully up.

I love reading these. It gives me heart when I see I am not alone with issues such as this. It's all part of the learning curve and stored away in the brain for future reference. Then you reach the age when it all starts draining out again!
