MG MGA - maltese mga

Hi all is this a rather expensive mga or has Malta got a new currency called the pound but only valued at half of sterling

I wondered the same thing Gordon! Where do people pluck these prices from? That would be very high even too high for a twin cam. As with other cars that get put up here, it's a beautiful restored car, but not concours or factory correct. Not wanting to get embroiled in the "so what", "owner's choice", "personal taste" etc. arguments, but what could possibly make anyone want to pay that amount?

In Malta they use the Euro - not quite half of Sterling.

Just a very optimistic price. Not that I'd want to buy a car that has been in a museum for nearly 10 years.

If it is like the Maltese Falcon there is gold under that paint."it's the stuff of dreams"

If that asking price is indeed in British pounds, then I agree that it's way too pricey. In Malta we have the Euro, and it could just be a misprint there. £1 = Euro 1.20. Admittedly though the car is a beauty, perfect in every way.

I know that MGA prices have been going up but even if it is Euros that still makes it £35,760 (56,500 US) which is a very high price.

It does say they will accept offers!

That car is sitting in the classic car museum but I must agree that the price is on the high side. However I am presently going through a nut and bolt restoration and I am sure that the amount of work and expenses put into this project would have rendered me a complete business failure if I had to sell it at the normal prices asked on the market. Having said that, I am now looking forward to drive the car on the road possibly in spring. This spring I hope!

I agree with you that thats a nice car but I have my reservations as regards the colour of the upholstery. As regards price I think that there is a substantial markup when it is sold through a dealer and not direct. I believe that the quality of the restoration should determine the price.
