MG MGA - Lower Swivel Link
Ok, I've gotten myself in a little corner on my front end rebuild. I got the king pins off the car ok, but I left the hub and the brake rotor on the axel thininking I could get the swivel links off with them still on. Well I got the upper swivel link unscrewed fine but the lower swivel doesn't have enough clearance to turn past the rotor. So it appears that I do indeed need to pull the hub and rotor in their entirety or is there something I missed? |

Tysen, Replacing those rubber seals on the king pins is not a fast process. You need to take almost the whole king pin assembly apart. The only thing left on the king pin will be the steering arm and the axle. I am not sure if you have front disc brakes but if you do then the backing plate will be the last thing to come off before you can turn the lower trunnion and get it off. That is why I suggest to get the best seals supplied, because you won't want to do this again soon. Ray |
