MG MGA - Light switch

Hi all,
Having trouble with my light switch. Lights were not working and I traced it to the switch. Removed it and cleaned with electrical contact cleaner. Put it back and seemed OK for a while then started playing up again so looks like a new one is required. I've read that the replacements from Moss are not that good. Anyone else had this trouble and found a solution? Can the switch be taken apart?

Hi Phil

On the body of the switch is a screw ( not a terminal). Lightly tightening this removes slop in the switch and improves its reliability

Thanks Dominic,
I was thinking (!) What about changing the light switch for a single on/off type of switch like the one for the fog light. This would be much more reliable. The only downside as far as I can see would be the inability to have the front side lights on without the headlights but is this really a problem? I don't think that I ever have just the side lights on anyway. Would there be an MOT problem with that? Any thoughts appreciated.

It would not pass the MOT Phil, assuming it still needs an MOT?
I have a few original used switches that tend to last pretty well, if you need one.

Hi Neil,
It doesn't actually need an MOT but I like to get one done anyway. If you have a switch that you can spare that would be great. Would you contact me via email for address details?

Many thanks,
Phil
