MG MGA - Length of battery earth lead

I am about to replace my 2 6v batteries with a 12v Odyssey battery. I don't want to add or lengthen the supply cable (-) so will place the battery in the cradle next to the fuel pump (behind the driver for RHD). As I have a battery cut out switch (+) already in place, is it OK to add another length from the switch to the battery terminal? Does the length of the positive lead have any effect on the electrics?

This is just a basic electricity question. The longer a conductor the more resistance it has. So yes adding length to any cable adds resistance. Using one battery and eliminating the extra connections reduces resistance. So the net is probably a better circuit. The cable in our cars that runs to the front is quit long. If you were to use welders cable and make up your own cables the starter would be able to crank faster. A conductor that has smaller individual wires in it but is of a heavier gauge, thicker overall, makes the best conductor.
