MG MGA - Judson Supercharger
I have the opportunity to purchase a Judson Supercharger with the complete set up including the gauge from the original owner. It includes all documentation and even the original decals which were never applied. What is it worth? What are the pro's and con's of running a supercharger on a stock 1600? Ken |

Depends very heavily on the condition and on being really complete. Look on my site for more (www.clancy.ch) including instructions, photos of all the items that should be there, and some tips on fitting. There are no cons, it brings a huge amount of extra torque, and a grin to the face of anyone who drives it that has a normally aspirated MGA. Prices for complete kits were running at around 4k US without a gauge (that alone can be worth 600 US), but that was before the finance crisis hit. (look on my site for details of the last ones to appear on ebay) It's one of those pieces where it's more expensive than one for a SL190! |

Ken, I have been watching superchargers too, and I think that a complete setup would go for about $3000, without the gauge. It should be noted that these superchargers, while complete, may need new vanes and cleaning up. If your setup is complete and like new, I think that Dominic is close to correct. Gauges go for anywhere from $150(low) to an average of $500 for the original. I think an original, still in the box went higher. |

Is this just the manifold pressure gauge you're referring too? $500!! I think that I may still have one from my old Judson in the garage. I carried the blower itself, from my P1800, to the recycling station because nobody around me seemed to want one as a gift. (This was pre-internet.) Had I only known. Ken |

Dominic Thanks for your helpful website, would you recommend changing the Diff. gear ratio, from original? Ken |

Ken, If you're interested in selling it, let me know. meparker2001/at/yahoo.com |

Don't expect huge power changes with the Judson. It will be very similar to fitting an MGB engine in place of the 1600. Nice period piece, but not a serious performance item. I ran one for awhile, and it was reliable. |

What if any would be the gains if adding a Judson to an MGB engine? |

Dominic, Thank you for your offer. I will take you up on it if I decide to purchase the unit. I will probably need your advice on installtion. I have been away, and have not made a decision, hope the seller hasn't sold it yet. This is the car I will install the Judson in. Ken |
