MG MGA - instrument repair service
Need help in finding a excellent repair service at a resonable rate? The fluid line has broken free from the fluid bulb on my Jaeger GD.150/01 water/oil temperature gauge I contacted two repairs services in the west coast but the $130.00 repair charge seems really high ! Moss sells a new one at approx. the same price but I'm not sure if its a after market that won't resemble the Jaeger? I'm now using a set of sunpro gauges that really look tacky... thanks Mike |

Mike, APT International in Minnesota offers repair services for gauges. I think they have a good reputation, perhaps someone else posting has experience with them. They quote "$85 to $165 for water temperature gauges with capillary tubes" on their web page (www.gaugeguys.com), not including any cost for cosmetic restoration. |

I tried APT once. They refused to give a price until they had the instrument in hand. After I shipped it to them the price was so outrageous that I paid return shipping and then sent it to Mo Ma. In 2000 it was $85 plus $5 return shipping. LIkely a little higher now. Email momanm@aol.com Say hello to Margaret Lucas Mo Ma Manufacturing - instrument repair 1321 Second Street. Mike, the price quoted is about average, but let me put in another plug for Mo-Ma. You will never beat Margaret's service or value. She goes out of her way to ensure that you get what you want and expect. I just got my speedo back from her and paid exactly $135 which included the shipping. She is a very good communicator and a wonderful lady to deal with! Clayton |

Ditto on MOMA-- My water/oil gauge came back looking like new, and operating perfectly... |

I have not had experience with MoMa, but use APT a bit. We just had a full set of gauges completely restored for an MGA, cosmetics and everything. They can be found at http://www.gaugeguys.com Always impressed with the final product which is very important to us. They also sell new Smiths gauges, but you will probably want your OEM units rebuilt and cosmetically restored. fwiw, -BMC. |

I would highly recommend Mo-Ma. She did an excellent job. It was $135 dollars and that included and temperature bulb. The new bulb was a two piece bulb which was a huge improvement over the last one. The new two piece bulb was simple to install and did not require twisting the tube. |

MoMa without any reservations. Great service, quality. |

I have used MOMA and found that she does fantastic work. Her prices are reasonable and to top it all off I believe her name is LUCAS. What more can I say. Sandy Sanders |

Margret and team took my mechanical stock tach and turned it into an electronic tach for an 18V using the same face and needle, Great job, fair price. Steve |

MOMA's rebuilt and calibrated my tach and speedo for my TD. As I was going to be away for a while, I ask her for the price so I could send it to her. I had already received a very reasonable price quote. Her response was "have a nice vacation and we'll talk business when you return". Am very happy with Margret's price, her work, and most of all, her attitude toward her customer. Marvin |

OK, you have convinced me inspite of my frugal ways to spring for the $135.00 charge to get the gauge fixed. Man, thats several tickets to the Cardinal vs Cub games.. She(MO MA) tells me that it will be at least 3+ weeks before I get it back, darn!! I'll go to Abingdon, Illinois as a spectator. Don't want to show my car with a hole in the dash and the 2 sunpro gauges mounted to the transmission tunnel(really ugly).. thanks for all the replies...... Oh, thanks Barney for the input on my installations of the voltmeter and vacuum gauge... Thanks Mike |

It is our policy at Moss not to make recommendations of particular businesses, but the exception is Mo-Ma. We recommend Margaret and her crew without hesitation and have for years. She does superior work and does it at reasonable prices. There are never any surprises when it comes time to pay the bill. I've personally used her services for years and can attest to the quality of her work. Craig Cody Moss Motors, LTD |

FYI, Had my water temp/oil pressure gage and fuel gage done by MOMA. Had my tach and speedo done by Nissonger. This is not a knock against Margret. Her work is excellent. But the overall quality, appearance and turn around time from Nissonger was better. Regards, Gerry |

I too can endorse Nissonger. Recalibrated my speedo. Quality work, nice finish, reasonable price. |

I agree on Nisonger. I used them for all my MGA instruments and am happy with their work. Their contact if you want. Nisonger Automotive 570 Mamaroneck Ave. Mamaroneck, New York 10543 U.S.A. (914) 381-1952 info@nisonger.com |

I used Nisonger and was satisfied with the work, but it took significantly longer than what was promised. If you're not in a big rush, no problem - otherwise... HTH, Joe |
