MG MGA - honing the master cylinder

Should a light weight oil be used wben honing the master cylinder bores?

Thanks, George

G Goeppner

Use any fluid that will carry the grinding swarf away to keep the stones from clogging up. Low viscosity fluid like penetrating oil or water or lacquer thinner will help the stones cut faster. More viscus fluid like engine oil will be slower going but will give a smoother final finish.

George,
I like to use water. It's less messy and I think gives better results.

Hi George. I usually use brake fluid as a lubricant, read somewhere that is what should be used, but opinions are just that! lol, GLenn
