MG MGA - heads up, a bogus 2nd chance offer

Just a heads up, a guy named "Mike Newman" is trying to sell the TC motor I just bought as a 2nd chance deal. Ebay # 46368883479.

I am confused. You bought it but it is now for sale by someone else?
Dennis

Sounds like someone's trying.

FYI, a genuine "2nd Chance Offer" via eBay will appear in your eBay messages with a blue shaded background.

Don:

Are you sure your purchase was legit? Have you received the motor?

Don,

I am confused. The auction that you won is 4636883479 and the "second chance" number that you quote has an additional "8" giving 46368883479 which I cannot find on Ebay.

It was a scam...I won the engine, and have spoken with the seller (a stand up guy). The second chance thing is a scam. The scammer wasn't doing his homework and sent me a e-mail saying the high bidder did not have the money (me), and now I could buy the engine. All I had to do was western union him the sum of $5500.00.
Its happened before, If you ever run into this, go back to the item discription and hit contact seller. Conferm it's the seller making the offer.
I just wanted to let you good people know, if you get this message, DO NOT SEND MONEY. The fun thing to do is ask alot of real dumb questions.

You should also notify e-bay as this is fraud and the dumb criminal could wind up doing some jail time.

Hi,

What is it with Twin cam engines and e-bay scams?!

I bid on a TC engine last year, but lost out on it.

The next day, I got a "second chance" e-mail through offering me the engine at my last bid, which was below the reserve. However, when I checked my ebay messages, there was nothing there, lucky I didn't accept the "second chance". I notified ebay and they verified the scam.

Maybe it's something to do with bids over a certain value - I remember I'd bid up to about $5000.

I don't know about you Americans, but over here in England, Western Union has been pretty much banned from Ebay due to fraud. We usually deal in face-to-face cash in hand, or Paypal.

Good luck with the TC!

Grant :-)
