MG MGA - GT Foster Story in NAMGAR MGA! Magazine

GT
Are you the Gerry that wrote the GT-33 road trip story in the latest issue of MGA!? Great story, I really enjoyed that. We were at that GT also, and knock on wood had no problems at all, and that was a great GT. On the return trip from GT32 in Whistler I had to replace the fuel pump in Kamloops BC, and one engine cooldown stop on that 20 minute hill at Osoyoos in 108F air temp. Now, if I was Barney I might have tried to tough it out and let the temperature needle creep into the oil pressure range, but I still had 3500 miles to go at that point, so I thought it best to give her a rest.
Its always a little more fun to read about someone elses problems, but not that much fun knowing that it could happen to any of us.

Ralph,
Yes, I am the Gerry who wrote the MGA! aritcle. Glad you enjoyed it. While at Seven Springs we drove to Pittsburgh, twice, to attend Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix events. This required climbing 2 Mile Hill in 95°F weather. My 'ol girl did just fine. All in all, it was a great adventure!
Cheers,
Gerry

Gerry - I also enjoyed your article immensely. Seven Springs was a lot of fun and I do remember Philip Habib's MK II running into some problems. I didn't know at the time that you had traveled with him to get there.

Are you going to Watkins Glen again this September? Hope to see you there.

Ken,
You bet I'll be at WG in September. Let's meet for a drink at the Seneca!
Planning another convoy to the GT35 in Wisconsin in July. Hope to see you there as well.
Cheers,

Gerry,

I can't make the GT in July, but let's coordinate for Watkins Glen. Given the price of drinks at the Seneca (about $3.50 for a mixed drink) I think we might be able to each buy each other a drink!

I'm signed up for the Sporting Roadster tour on Friday. Are you involved in any of the events?

I am the Philip in the story Gerry wrote. I am very grateful for the assistance I received from everyone and was very fortunate to be travelling with such an MGA savy group!
Our first long drive in this car was quite the adventure. And the clogged fuel line and blown head gasket have not dampened my entusiasm for the car. Thanks to George of the The Greater Pittsburgh MG Club who recommended us to Boffo Motors in New Brighton Pennsylvania. Jim Boffo did a great job of replacing the head gasket and ensuring the car was in good working order for our return trip to Montreal. Saw lot's of neat things in his garage, including a mint MGB still on his showroom floor in what used to be his MG dealership.
PN Habib

When I was in Pittsburgh, starting in '65 or so, and even after I moved up here c1975, Boffo Motors was where I bought all my dealer parts, and where I took all my customer cars that had warranty issues. Great people and one of the three all time best parts men!
