MG MGA - Gearbox Identity

Gday I've just bought a gearbox on Oz Ebay the owner says is MGA. The slave cylinder is located at the top(12 oclock)and it has MGA 3815 stamped into casing near the dipstick. Anyone know what car it is from? Tah Bob

Just from the position of the clutch slave it sounds like it could be from an MG ZA or ZB Magnette.

Could be a Twin Cam box too

Twin Can used the same style box as the Magnette, but it did not have the machining on top to accept the slave cylinder and lever. For Twin Cam the bellhousing was machined low on the right side, similar to other MGA but with a different slave cylinder

Gday here is some more infomation on this gearbox. It has an electrical pickup at the base of gearstick remote. There are two machined areas for a slave cylinder (12 + 7 oclock ,7 oclock has not been used on this box).1H3153 1H3154B SM these numbers are cast inside bellhousing.Bob
