MG MGA - Fuel pump problem

Hello - new member here. My '58 MGA was running fine, then I left it for a month in the Florida heat (albeit in a garage) but something happened to the fuel pump. No worries with the connections - just it will not stop clicking. I finally got some fuel through and now the car runs, however the fuel pump still going crazy clicking which I guess will shortly destroy the condenser. I have tried everything I know - can't find any air ingress for example, so am stumped. Could the fuel pump itself be kaput? Any and all ideas welcome.
Thanks!

Could be some muck under one of the disc valves. I think I'd remove it from the car and give the insides a good clean including the points while it's out. Also check if the diaphragm is in good condition................Mike

Is there any fuel left in the Tank? A fuel pump that doesn't stop and hard starting are typical of an empty tank. Try a refill - the gauge may be reading incorrectly

Have a look at the fuel pipe from tank to pump.
Sounds as if you have an air leak somewhere on the suction side.
Make sure all the pipe connections are secure (they might just need a tweek with a spanner), and that the pipe itself is in good condition.
