MG MGA - Fuel pump mounting

I just swapped out the fuel pump on a 1600 MGA and wonder if I put the rubber isolation blocks back on right. I fitted them one either side of the mounting bracket but they were both on the same side between the pump and bracket before which just seemed wrong for isolating the pump from road shocks. I just wondered what is right, and how most of you assemble them, if it is going to be a problem it's 5 minutes to reassemble as it was.

Just in case there are several installations, its the bracket that the pump is bolted to here. Thanks in advance.

Stan - the isolators should be on either side of the mounting bracket, with the mounting bolts centered in the oversized holes in the bracket. The purpose of the isolators is less to protect the pump from shock than it is to isolate the noise of the pump from being telegraphed into the interior of the car.

I hope that the new pump doesn't have the same seepage at the outlet port as the old pump was having - it should be none. Also, an observation, it doesn't look like there was ever a ground wire attached to the ground lug on the side of the pump. The pump needs to be grounded through a proper ground wire rather than the fuel lines so that there are no chances of the ground becoming flaky over time. Cheers - Dave

Stan,
Maybe this picture helps.

Sorry :)

Thanks guys, the pic from Wim is exactly how I put it back on which is very reassuring. The earth wire is just not there and although it runs fine I will fit one. The fuel seepage is there because I had already loosened the unions at this point they sealed fine onto the new pump. I found this one a lot easier to fit than on the MGB.
