MG MGA - Front cover oil seal replacement

I'm going to be replacing the front timing chain oil seal in my friends 60 MGA in 3 weeks time. Is it necessary to remove the engine to do this or can it be done with the engine still in the car.

Andy,

You can do it with the engine in the car.

I assume that the engine you are working on will have the felt oil seal.

Be careful to fit the oil thrower the correct way around, you can not be sure it is the correct way around when you take it out.
