Jim
Jim Ferguson

I wanted to send a better photo but I assume we are supposed to be in the picture with the car, and that's the only one I have with me in it.
Steve Simmons

the size of the pictures is not important, just that it's a pic of you and your car, and steve you can send me later a new one
serge

Think big, Serge. What would you do if you received pictures of several thousand MGA?
Barney Gaylord

Someone's got to ask. What if we're owners of more than 1 MGA? Want pictures of us or the cars?

Thanks Pete - considering SHE bought the car in 1968, and only the car has had a "frame up" resto, she does look pretty good after all these years. I have some pictures of us with the car from back in the 60's on another computer at work. I'll send one or two to Serge.

serge

Sorry, I helped the TD guys with a photo of my YB. It's basically a TD with four doors anyway.
Steve Simmons

Hmmm, maybe the Farina Oxford/Cambridge owners can help the MGA guys ???!!!
After all, basically these are MGA's with four doors.......8^)

there is online on picture of an car under restoration, that's weird ??
serge

Serge,
1) Is there a picture of you coming?
2) Why does the order of the pictures change every time I go into the site?

David Markew. Is the pub you are outside, 'The Bear and Ragged Staff' the one in Powick, near Malvern? If so, and you live in the area could you contact me at some time.
Thanks
Nigel Munford

Hi Nigel

next week my car(under restoration) is comming back home and i will take a photo then, the order of the pictures is changing becaurse these are alphabetical.
David lives in Winchester.
serge

Nigel
That pub's near Romsey which isn't that far from Winchester...
Pete
Pete Tipping

Serge,
I check your site each day to see if you have any new pictures posted. I'm enjoying your venture. Thanks for doing this. It's interesting to see some of the faces that go with the posts on this board.
Jerry Murphy

I sent mine several days ago - haven't seen it yet. Maybe there's a backlog to clear. :-)
David Breneman

hi david

serge
serge

Hey, not a problem! -- Like I said, you must have had a backlog. :-)
David Breneman

...I'd just add that since I think it's the best picture of *me* taken in the last 25 years, I'm anxious to get it out where people can see it. ;-)
David Breneman

OK Serge, where are all the COUPEs I know there are more coupes out there just look at other threads.

Thanks:Cliff Jones (57A-Coupe)

Gday Serge, sent picture of our 59 mineral blue coupe. Bob Walker
B WALKER

i got another few coupe's now , i will put them online on the next few day's. I'll put one or two pictures a day online thats makes it more interesting.so if you send me your picture it will show up on the next days.It looks like the MG T type boys stuck by almost 70 cars so if we want to beat them i gonna need another 25 pictures, so everybody who not yet send an picture take a shot and mail it to me

serge
serge

Interesting that 13% of the cars posted so far are BRG. Not bad for a non-standard colour.

Steve
Steve Gyles

I agree with Steve. Last month I went to the British Invasion in Stowe, Vt. As I drove into town, the first 3 'As I saw were BRG. I was a bit upset, having just bought a BRG myself and was looking forward to being a bit different from the hordes of red 'As.

Maybe related, but at the moment on eBay over here, there are 11 MGAs listed. 2 are OEW, 1 is Alamo Beige and 8 are red! Does this signal the end of the red 'A craze! Is everyone dumping them and flooding the market? There's an old addage in the car trade:- "If you want to sell it, paint it red!"

TTFN

Derek Nicholson

Well, a tasty Admiral Blue one just showed up, so I'll have to redo the stats.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/57-MG-A-ROADSTER-Admiral-Blue-Tan-Hide-Restored_W0QQitemZ200033802181QQihZ010QQcategoryZ80750QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Maybe I'll respray my BRG to Admiral Blue and start a new trend.

Derek Nicholson

Serge - hope you got our photo of another OEW roadster.

Will send you a photo of our '58 coupe under restoration - is OEW, was ash green originally, and will be orient red with white roof when I'm finished!

Peter and Anne, BC, Canada.
P. Tilbury

Red cars at shows is like moths to a flame - everyone gathers round OOhing and aahing - I looked initially for a red or OEW one but when I first saw my black one I just had to have it - doesn't half show the finger prints though - and there are two other black ones in our region!!
Cam Cunningham

Derek,

Wasn't that car on the cover of MGA! magazine a couple of years ago?

Regards,
Joe Cook

Don't know, Joe. All I know is that their opening bid is 8 times what I just paid for my driver! Too rich for my blood.

Derek Nicholson

Joe, I also thought about the MGA! cover car when I saw it, so I looked it up. The one we were thinking of was a mineral blue Twin Cam #YD3-1359 and was owned by Jim Alcorn of Lajolla, CA.
Little different shade of blue (quite different actually) with a black interior, still a beautiful car. It can be seen on the cover of the Nov./Dec. 2002 issue.

Clayton
C. Merchant

What is Admiral blue? The color looks like the coupe only mineral blue. The vin plate on the car appears to have a made up vin#. It is an obvious repro vin plate and is missing the second digit "D". Is it titled wrong? For an opening bid of $25000 they should at least know the color and have a proper VIN#.
It does look nice, I am doing a 58 coupe that will be mineral blue.
R J Brown

Clayton,

Thanks for the info - I agree that it was one of the most stunning cars I've seen.

My collection of old MGA! issues is "somewhere safe" in the house, meaning I can't remember where I put them.

Cheers,
Joe Cook

Serge- just sent in my 59 1600 Coupe
gary starr

HI Serge if you let me have your email address I will send a pic of my MGA in, also R J Brown if you let me have your email I will send you a photo of my mineral blue coupe which I sold last year

Hi Serge,
I sent my picture in a couple of days ago. It is split down the middle with one half of me sitting on the almost bare chassis and the other half of me in the seat of a freshly painted body on chassis. I painted it in the garage and as you can see from the picture it doesnt look like hawaii. i moved to oregon where i painted it and after two years, moved back in hawaii(we missed the sunshine). luckly the car didnt get a scratch during the move. it still doesnt run but i am working on that. thanks again for hosting this site Serge!
doug

hi doug

i got your picture and will put it online soon, i put only one picture a day online that keeps it more interesting. we need a few more to beat the mg td boys so let these pictures come from mga and there owners, i got alot of pic's without the owners, but that is not the intention of the album

Cliff

As soon as I can get someone to take the pictures of the cars with me in the pictures, I can add 4 more that'll change your mind, Cliff!

Derek Nicholson

Coupe owners, see the thread with the title "Coupe owners..... ".
Derek Nicholson

Still a lot of names showing up on this BBS that don't appear to be represented by a picture of them and their car (or project). Any more of you willing to submit

serge
serge

Serge,
Geoff McGladdery

Lets try again .............. Serge I have sent you, with their permission, a picture of Michael and Elaine Pickersgill in what must be the most rallied MGA ever. BSK 411
Geoff McGladdery

Geoff, you are also responsable for the picture of me on this site. ( I thought, in your first attempt, you were suggesting Serge finally contributes. I am not sure if he wants 100 'photos, or 100 entries on his thread)
Nigel Munford

Serge, the collection of photos is wonderful - I have to try to persuade one or two more friends to submit pictures, but it looks like we're going to struggle to make the 100 - disapointing after all your efforts.
of the 78 pics, only 14% are couples and 4 of the 'partners' are unnamed! (disowned?) a mere 9% of the cars appear to be moving and only 5 of those are on the public highway. A miniscule 3% of owners are female, although if I may add a personal opinion here - "Quality certainly makes up fpr quantity"
What does this say about the demographic of the MGA owner/driver ............. answers please
Geoff
Geoff McGladdery

No photo of mine exists on the move for the simple reason that no-one can keep up!

Great job Serge 78/82 and closing. Glad to see more Coupes showing up.

Best of Luck:Cliff(SC)
Jones

Hi Serge

Just taken a look at your site and I think it looks great (and of course, so do the A's). I've got to say that the one that's blown me away is Scott Browns racer (no. 70) - who says the A is to pretty to look mean!
Top marks Scott - you've got just the look I want for mine (one day - but not soon!).

Serge, I'll send you a photo of my chassis with engine in situ, if you want - but be warned its not for purists!

Chris.
C J Bond

Serge,
Any idea how many visitors to the photo page?

Nigel Munford

Hi Serge,
I sent my picture of the first day i picked up my A. Work in progress. Frame is done working on body. Thanks Ron
C Tarr

Geoff thanks for the pictures when whe had a few members like you or like Derek on the BBS than we would already have 100 pictures

hi chris, i'm looking forward for you picture, and also for your picture ron ,so maybe we can beat the mg td boys after all..

Nigel the daily visitors are about 20 till 30 on weekdays and about 5 till 10 on the weekend

and still a lot of names showing up here that don't appear to be represented by a picture of them and their car (or project). Any more of you willing to submit

Looks like everytime the tread comes up there are a few people who want to submit a picture.

Do you want pictures of projects also? I have three. One is a 62 roadster that is at the painters and I am activly working on a 58 coupe. I also have a basket case 60 roadster that sits just as I bought it 15+ years ago.
Randy

Randy, I'd have to say that if Serge will post my garden tractor, he'll post anything!

Derek Nicholson

serge, great job hope to see more photo's

cliff

I just wanted to bump this topic back to the top, just in case there are any more "Glenns" out there, but I see that Cliff has just done it for me. But maybe friends Mike Trainor and Barry Graham will read this and send in photos of their red 'As!

Hi Folks. I recently submitted a photo of me and my MGA to Serge's MGA photo collection. Hopefully it will be online soon. Forum folks can then put a face to the MGA poems that readers "love" so much! lol, Glenn

Hi Serge

Believe it or not I have only I photo of me and my coupe together, and thats a photo of me looking like right pratt at Goodwood Revival, I'll refrain from sending it. I'll get my wife to take another tomorrow and send that.

Terry
T Drinkwater

My photo is on, I recommend you look at it with dark glasses, not pretty (the car is). Sorry about the overalls chaps, I almost live in them. I'm about to put the body on my Twin Cam chassis, I send another when its on. There are dozens of UK MGA's that aren't on, maybe they don't visit this website (can't blame them!) I know George Dutton does, where are you George?

Terry
Terry Drinkwater

89T's to 86A's it looks like the T's are a much prouder group then twe are.
Serge, great job: Cliff(SC)
Jones

More thread posts than pictures! Shame!

How many pictures do the T's have per car? maybe we should at least send some more pictures of our cars?

There are a few A's on eBay at the moment on both sides of the pond, a few high bids and....?

Any T guys reading this; we're not desperate, just lulling you into a false sense of security! and stop spying!

Terry, have to agree with the guys, your coupe looks the dogs.

Neil

(Before you ask, my pic's of the wife (Juan)and kids.

I'm guessing that many have seen this specimen, but there are probably some that haven't:-

That was from the 2002 Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale AZ. The same car was listed on eBay a couple of times more recently but didn't sell.
Barney Gaylord

I got a few pictures today, but i can't use them all, becaurse i still got a lot of pictures without the owners/drivers, when everyone who send me a picture without the driver/owner,send me an picture with them on it then we can make the 99 at new year and i can put an picture from me and my project on as nr 100

HOHOHO
skip

OK, so I'm bored and I was looking at the photos on Serge's album page and something interesting popped out at me and I decided to run a bunch of numbers for the MGA photos vs. the T-Series.

Based on the 90 MGA photos posted thus far, 43 of them are from the U.S. or 48.3%
19 of them are from the UK or 21.1%
Germany and Canada check in with about 9% each. In all there are 11 countries represented.

Based on the 89 T-series photos posted, 63 of them are from the USA or 71%, Canada has about 9%, The UK and the Netherlands are represented by 6.7% each and there are 7 total countries represented.

What I found to be interesting is that of total MGA production, fully 81% were destined for the North American market, but of T-series production, only 63% were destined for the N.A market. Yet if the photos represent a semi accurate picture of the current status of all these cars today, it would suggest that the MGA has become a much more international favorite than the T-Series cars. I know there could be all kinds of reasons for that including availability, price today, etc.

But I would ask our European members the question, all things being equal, would you prefer an MGA over T-series cars and if so, why? Is it purely a cost issue?

Remember, I did say I was bored!
Clayton
C. Merchant

Clayton,

Is that right, 90 MGA to 89 T? Yeah!

Anyway, regarding my preference as a European the answer is mainly driveability. Just practical enough as an everyday car. There are many other factors, cost, parts availability, reliability etc. But then why not chose an MGB or a new Mazda?

To me the MGA represents an excellent compromoise between all the aspects of two seater classic cars, and is certainly one of the prettiest. T-series ownership is more for the specialist.

Neil McGurk

Clayton,You ask for European comments on A v T.
When I retired I promised myself a TF as being a car I had always wanted as a young man but had not been able to afford one. (Actually had a very battered J2 and if I still had that it would be worth a fortune).
Test drove a 1500TF six years ago and was bitterly disappointed in its performance.
Tried an A and found it far more fun and well able to keep up with modern traffic and cost difference not a big issue. Also blessed to have Bob West 30 minutes away.

Great Job serge Hope to see 100 soon
Jones

Serge, Just sent you the ONLY photo I have with me in it. Not a very flattering angle but.....I guess we all have been in that position at some time during our ownership.

Chuck
Chuck Schaefer

Eight of the 91 cars are BRG. Nine if you include Cam's. Difficult to tell from the photo but I think his was black when I gatecrashed his MG meeting several months ago. Still a good percentage for a non-standard colour.

I might substitute my photo after Xmas. Daughter and partner coming to see us in their Aston Martin DB9 Vanquish. Could be a good photo opportunity!

Steve
Steve Gyles

You remember correctly Steve- mine is black. Will have to persuade the twin-cam owner in our club to put his car on -or is it OK to ask his permission and do it for him - cheers Cam
Cam Cunningham

serge, you are on a roll 93A's to 92T's keep it up your will have a 100 by Christmas.

Nigel Munford

The T photo gallery is only for TD/TF. A couple Y-Types made their way in because they are mechanically the same car. I would still expect far more MGAs than TD/TF though.
Steve Simmons

Serge, new photos wit me in them in your mail box, hope you get your 100.
