MG MGA - Fasteners for Hood Prop Clip
I am installing a new clip holder for the hood prop (Moss 471-130). The PO had a non-original clip secured with a single sheet metal screw. The unused hole appears to have been a sheet metal screw as well. What are the correct screws or bolts for the hood prop clip? I looked at John Progess’s nut-n-bolt spreadsheet but these are not listed. Thanks, John |

I recently used two self tap pan head screws about 3/8 - 1/2" long with a spring washer beneath the head. I first tried no. 6 gauge but the holes were a touch big so ended up with no. 8s................ Mike |

See attached picture. Maybe you have a choice. I find two different sizes in the Service Parts Lists, smaller screw for the 1600 model (unless it's a misprint). If a #6 screw doesn't catch the thread, use #8. PTZ803 = SCREW POZIPAN No.8 x 3/8 INCH ZINC SCREW-SELF TAPPING No. 8 x 3/8" PTZ603 = SCREW POZIPAN No.6 x 3/8 INCH ZINC SCREW-SELF TAPPING No. 6 x 3/8" The MGA 1500 SPL calls it: AHH5460 Clip for support rod PTZ803 Screw for clip to lid The mga twin cam SPL calls it: AHH5460 Clip for rod PTZ803 Screw fixing clip The MGA 1600 SPL calls it: AHH5460 Clip - rod PTZ603 Screw fixing clip |
