MG MGA - Engine Identification Help Needed

I have a 1600 short block which I am cleaning up to have dipped and crack tested and it looks as if it has original pale blue paint job on it. engine number 16GA -U 15758 and has the Tach drive in place. Is this an MGA engine that's been painted or could it be from a different model car?........Tom
