MG MGA - Brake Noise

I'm getting a sharp click type of noise from the front suspension area when I gently brake and if I take my foot off the brake and reapply it happens again. Could this be the brake pads rocking slightly in their calipers since there is a small amount of slack when installing them?
J H Cole

This is a definite possibility. Brake pads should be a tight fit in the calliper without any side movement.
Iain MacKintosh

Click might be brake pads. Clunk might be worn rubber bushings at the lower A-arm inner pivot jointsm or loose bolts in the A-arm side brackets. Either will clunk when you apply brakes, and clunk again after stop and release.

Also check to make sure wire wheels are on snug with no play.
