MG MGA - 5 speed tranny oil

Hello All,
I'm pretty close to getting a 5 speed Sierra tranny.

I have a few questions: What are your thoughts on using Redline oil in the tranny? I have heard it costs about $8.00 a quart.
Is it worth it for better shifting and synchro functions?
Should I look for a cheaper supply of it?
Should I use the standard oil for this tranny?
What is the standard oil for these transmissions?

thanks,
Ray

I just used the Ford oil recommended for the gearbox. It's been in there now unchanged (no drain plug) for 7 years. Works fine.

You will need 2 litres (I believe the oil capacity is 1.9 litres) of 75W90 semi-synthetic oil.

I use Redline in the 5 speed transaxle of my Alfa Romeo GTV6. It makes a noticeable difference. With the long linkage it's like trying to shift an al dente noodle. So it's very sensative to things like this. With a short linkage may not make as much but why not?

Baney had a comment on Redline recently - didn't he hate it?

I'm using Lucas Oil 75w90 synthetic gear oil. Gearbox shifts nice and smooth.

Thanks...I'll price out some 75w90 weight Redline.
