MG MGA - 1600 Master Cylinder ports

In the bottom of the fluid resevoir in a master cylinder for MGA 1600, there are four holes, two for each cylinder. Are all four used, or are two not drilled completely through?
Is the check valve in the brake side cylinder, used with all drum brakes, omitted when disc brakes are fitted? I beleive the caliper pistons will not retract with the valve fitted.
