MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wiring a new fuel sender

I have just bought a new (plastic) fuel sender unit for my 73 midget and it has 3 connectors rather than the 2 of the original. Is the extra one an earth and which is it? I assume it is the one with a plastic cover on it but do I need it? Thanks in anticipation

Here you go john... i just found this on the moss website while looking up fuel sending units for myself. Hopefully that helps

SENDING UNIT
Note: The sender has three terminals. The middle one with the wire attached being earth (ground), as the sender has a plastic body. The terminal marked “I” is for the connection to the instrument. The terminal marked “WL” is for a connection to a low warning light if fitted. If one is not fitted, leave the plastic sleeve on the terminal and disregard.
