MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wiprer Sticking?

Hey All,

I experienced a problem with my wipers last night in heavy rain... btw what 'fun' it was trying to avoid flooded road surfaces of South London in a low car.

Not so much fun was that my wipers kept getting stuck at the top of the windscreen frame, ive got the correct wiper blades etc for my 70 midget but when it reaches the full sweep point at the top of the windscreen the nearside one just jams on the rubber windscreen seal and seems to be just fouling it...

Had to keep pulling over every 100 yards and clearing it... oh what fun in the pouring rain...lol

any ideas please?

Perhaps need to check the wiper motor - could be a lack of power rather than any perceived fouling - welcome to the wonderful world of driving a Midget in the rain with no wipers - we've all been there ...!

Thanks Rach, motor seems fine, i mean its not going to break any speed record..lol but is working well, its definately fouling as when i got out to look you could see the point it fouled which is where it was stuck.

Ah - would take the simple, but effective, option of chopping off the last couple of cms of the wiper blade then - if it was mine :)!!!!

LOL Yeah thats what i thought too! i think it may just be as the rain was sooo heavy the wiper was over lubricated and may have gone just past full swipe.

I've had the same. The blades occasionally walk down the arms meaning the blade gets stuck at the top of the screen. I combined shuffling the blade down the arm with choppng a bit off as suggested. Works fine now :)

Perfect! Thanks Rach and Tony, ive trimmed literally 2 or 3mm (the end stop) off the end of the blade and re crimped the metal closed and it works perfectly :-)
