MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Which Steering Rack for 1973 Midget

I'm about to purchase a new steering rack, and I wanted to make sure I get the right one as this model seems to be close to the point where they changed.

It's a 1973 Chrome Bumper midget, does that need this one:

or this one:

Many Thanks

The racks changed in early '72 to the Triumph rack.
If you have the early rack, it will be mounted on cast alloy brackets, whereas the later Triumph uses steel brackets.

sorry not got time now but will give details and photo later

I've just got the later Triumph type and at a critical piont (on my car at least) the new steering rack is bigger than the present one fitted causing a problem

the ever helpful owners Handbook, page 61, states from G-AN5-114643 for the latter type - (Ref: 0057) - http://www.mgocshop.co.uk/catalog/Online_Catalogue_Handbooks_5.html

my rack was a new (not reconditioned) AHA9956 the later Triumph type and as said it varied to the original that was on my car

the new steering rack is bigger than the present one fitted (see photo) which caused a fitting problem
