MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wheel Bearing success

Hi guys,

Had the dreaded front wheel bearing drone start last week. Racked to n/s/f.

Still on the original bearings after 148,000 miles.

But glad to say managed the job in about 45mins yesterday, peace is restored!

Was a bit worried after hearing stories about poor fitment, but the ones I got seemed fine, one Timken and one SKF in the kit.
SR Smith 1

great!
would you mind naming the supplier?
David Smith

Echo that. Who supplied the kit?
Lawrence Slater

Sure,

Came from here.............

Not cheap, but fitted beautifully
SR Smith 1

Ah, the "proper" ones then!
Graeme Williams

Yep,

Absolutely spot on fitment wise Graeme.

I'd rather pay a bit more for a quality part than 50% less for some lash up that doesn't fit as it should.

They must have been supplied to them by Chris. Or, is this actually Chris, as these people claim ---

"We have been re-engineering hard-to-find classic car parts for years now.

Please get in touch if there's something which you think needs re-engineering. Our strengths are based on our in-house machining and production capabilities."

Is this Chris, or have others finally caught on, and realise there's a good market in supplying the correct spec FWBs.

Whatever, it's a good result, and soon Moss, Sussex, et al, will be supplying them too.
Lawrence Slater

Did no one know of these people?

Found them fairly quickly in a google search.
SR Smith 1

certain it's Chris.
Any news on the clutch bearings?
aj robinson

The website is a bit shy on "location" and no further information in "contacts" but a telephone no on the site has an area code for Halstead or thereabouts which would be appropriate for Chris.
Graeme Williams

whois lookup comes up with Christopher Buckingham as the owner of the site
dominic clancy

It is Chris's people

Glad they fitted right, nice innit ;)
