MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Welcome to my world...what went wrong!!

well,

Im calling it a day way to early...I had a seperating tire thats been driving me nuts over the last 3 weeks or so...so I made an oppintment on friday and ordered a new tire (to match the others) on friday...get there this morning around 8:00 am and wait and wait and wait...tire hadnt showed up..so take truck to a few appointments, and comeback to wheel shop ....about 2 miles before, and just whap, whap. whap....And then BANG!!! like a shotgun blast...Of course I dont have a spare or a jack, cause I fig. I wouldnt need it....after all it (wasnt THAT bad...I figured in my real mans attitude)So I walk the 2 miles and change to the tire shop...tire hasnt come in still....so another hour and a half goes by, Im milling about, reading the magizine on the latest hollywood gossip, and what not, looking thur the glass into the (resticted shop area)...and I see six new tires agianst the wall with the letters reading "XSP" and appearing to be the same genral size as MY tire....so I wait for one of the ""bored looking, nothing to do --guess Ill get another drink of water at the water foutian so I look busy" tire guy to come thur the (NOT so carfully looked after restricked shop door), and make my move....yeah, they have been there the whole freakin time scence 7:00 am, floor manager guy was so busy he never got a chance to log them in.... so after waiting around a tire shop for 6 hours and getting to walk along side a high volume super busy 4 lane highway interstate for 2 miles, and up hill no less....Im calling it a day, and have started drinking a bit soon Im afraid...so if you notice any mis-spelling in the coming hours ...you will know why)

on the goodnews front...Im gusessing the 2 mile walk shaved at least 3 pounds off the ol belly tire fat, at my mid rif as they call it these days and I was able to catch up on the latest madonna and A-rod baseball sex scandle...and the truck drives so much smoother no more massage therapy thur the steering wheel...as those that have driven 3 weeks on a seperated tire can attest to.

Its a day

LOL...Oh thats good...and a bit of truth as well...

all 4 of my current tires were orginally a matching set and a bit old..okay 6 years old, but hey I got them installed and balanced for $75 for all 4 from a salvage yard 2 years ago,,,,then last fall I had to replace one and did so with the new "XSP" and wanted the same tire agian so I wont have 3 diffreant types of tires and can eventually get them all replaced to the "XSP"

So I am getting a new set of tires, one tire at a time on the one tire a year program...cant wait for the year 2010 so Ill have a matching set of "well sorta" new tires...lol

>>> old new stock...thats good!!! lol. <<<

Seriously, this has been an issue. Tire shops have been known to sell tires as "new" that have actually been sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long... long enough for the rubber to age significantly and compromise performance and safety. There are date codes molded into sidewalls, and learning how to read those codes can be pretty helpful.

Hhhhmmmm,

Honestly, I knew about the date codes and that its illegal to sell tires that are older then 5 years old, but I didnt know tire shops would actually sell old new stock....

But, thats me, Ill trust anyone Ive just met, that has a smile, and seems good natured..

...Here little prop, would like some candy, let me give you a ride in my shiny new van, with no windows." LOL.
