MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Tracking

I recently purchased an ex race car which I will be using for track days and possibly autosolo. I initially thought the heavy steering was a function of the shockers / bushes / AR bar etc but I have now found that the tracking is toe out.

The "midget & Sprite High Perfomance Manual" states that the optimum setting is likely to between 1/32 and zero toe in for competition cars.

Before I change it, what setting do others use for similar cars?

I used to zero mine.

There are many opinions on the optimum tracking for a midget. Have you spoken to the previous owner about setup?

Toe out was normally for circuit cars with crossly tyres.

If the rest of the car is conventional, parallel is a good starting point.
Dan Cusworth

The car was raced with Dunlop CR65s [ie cross ply] so the tracking was ok. Now fitted with Yoko A539 [ie radial] for road and track use so need to adjust to zero.

Thanks for the replies.

I set a small toe-in, as God intended for rwd.

How far was it toeing out?

I haven't heard, until now, of race Spridgets being tracked to toe out though most racing Spridgets won't be on cross ply tyres unless they are slicks (not all slicks are cross ply).

It is a valid setting and assumedly the previous owner set it to toe out to improve turn-in.
