MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Temperature sending unit
I have a 74' midget with 1275. Hard wire from temp/oil dual gauge has broken out of temp sending unit. Can this be fixed? or do I have to get entire new gauge assembly? |

TAV. Bad news, I'm afraid. It's not something you can repair at home and having it fixed if you can find a place is just about equal to a new one. The "wire" is actually a capilliary tube that contains ether and it has to be refilled in a vacuum environment. Wish I had better news for you. |

Clive, I was afraid of that. Appreciate the info. Thanks. |

If you search the archives, you can find a link for a process to graft a new one on (donated from a cheap unit found at local parts store). I did it and it works, but it is a gamble how accurate it will be. I may have gotten lucky that mine is accurate right around the boiling temperature of water. |
