MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Some more rust advice...

Hi all.

Managed to poke my screwdriver through a few more places this weekend, unfortunately. I'm not too sure about a couple I found in the inner front wheel arches. Both sides are essentially the same - on the inside of the upper chassis legs. I've no idea what the captive nuts are for, they don't seem to used on my car.
I guess it's just another cut out a patch job? They aren't hugely critical that I can see, mainly just holding the girder on the front!

Is this a 1500?! I was recently trying to replace this whole panel. Eventually when I couldn't get this bit to line up I chopped it off so I hope it isn't important!

If I understand correctly earlier midgets don't even have this bit, but a bolt on spash sheild instead.

Cheers,
Malcolm

P.S. The bumper mounting 'girders' have also been chopped off on my car by the way.

Yep, that's a 1500. Those mystery holes, and the flat in which they're contained, used to accommodate a diagonal brace that extended from the bumper to the body structure. My car doesn't have the brace either, so they must have dropped it at some point.

Yes it's a 1500 (hence "holding the girder on the front"!). So I should be able to cut out the affected area and patch it back up?
