MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Slave calipers refurb

I am replacing the rear calipers. One is beyond the pale and going in the bin. The other looks salvageable. Is it hard / difficullt / worth refurbishing or are the replacement slaves going to last me a fair few years anyways and the thought of me being a mechanical wiz just a pipe dream as usual?

Replacements have correct part number, look exactly like the old ones minus the rust, and came in QH boxes.
Refurb old one for use later or sling?

Change the slaves, throw the old ones away forget about refurbishing them, the replacements should last 20 years. The only trouble you may have, apart from bleeding the brakes, is getting the retaining e-clip back on but there are loads of suggestions on the web.

What's a slave caliper? Assume that should read cylinder, or have you got discs on the rears too?
Lawrence Slater

Appologies, a long week, stressed with day car broke and SWWBO needing to get back to work at the weekend. Day car now fixed so I can maybe finish the more exciting midget ride this weekend while she is out of the way and relax and tork proper. ;-)
Rear slave cylinders is what it should say; its standard.
The old ones are in the bin.

The bin's the right place for 'em too

I can see the validity of refurbing hard to get master cylinders (if you had the old dual unit ones) but for the cost of rear slaves it doesn't seem worth it to me.

And refurbed ones can fail too, some seem to have worn oval ish without it showing when you peer inside
