MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Seat Belt problem

On my 63 Mk 1 midget there are two studs sticking up on the rear wheel arches to attach the seat belt to. Maybe I'm hopeless, they look like 5/16 UNF but I can't get a nut or die nut started (they have some paint on the threads). Has anybody done this lately that can tell me what thread the studs are????

Mike

Definitely 5/16" UNF, my B had the same arrangement - as did my son's late and very lamented low mileage MG1100 (which came to a sticky end not far from where you live (SH10 Waipapa) when some pillock thought a right indicator meant please pass ....
I degress, what I was really trying to say that the twin 5/16"UNF stud fitting was a very common one early in the days of seatbelts.
