MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rotary wire brushes Which ones are any good?

I can confirm that Silverline wire brushes (very cheap) fall apart on the first use. I just took some back to tool station and got a full refund, no quibbles.

So where can I buy decent ones that actually last, and with which, the wire brushes don't rotate in the holders? Effectively remaining stationary whilst the cup spins around them.

The top left corner 2/3 are particularly what I want, to get into tight corners to clean out rust and paint.

There are quite a few sellers on Ebay, but does anyone have any they can recommend?

Lawrence,

I've got a Silverline twisted cup one like that in the middle of your photo and it goes on an angle grinder. Lasted for years and very effective. The ones with the wires twisted together stand up much better but won't get into tighter corners.

Strange...
I used silverline to remove all the paint from my midget and they are still OK.
Perhaps a bad batch

I had a 'cup' brush on my angle grinder which lasted for years.

I bought another one which didn't last very well.

I read some reviews on Screwfix's website that theirs weren't good.

I think I currently have a Silverline, which seems OK so far.

Interesting that the silverline ones are working for most here. Maybe I did get a bad batch at that then.

I've got wire wheel and a twisted cup for the mini grinder, abut I need the narrow de-carb type for the tight corners.

I was looking at screwfix and the reviews look quite good http://tinyurl.com/cslltyv so maybe I'll give them a go.

If you want some wee ones for getting into tight corners I bought some ones like the top left ones from halfords about 3 years ago and still going strong!

They are about 10 or 12 mm across. Very useful for clenaing out plug weld holes!

Thanks Malcolm. I didn't know Halfords sold these. I'll take a peek.

Bought the Halfords variety. A little bit more expensive than the cheapest, but they are made in Germany. -- Assuming that German stuff is still quality these day that is. Is it?

I may have just been unlucky with the silverlines, but for a few extra pounds, I saved myself the hassle of having to take another lot back if they too were duff.
