MG Midget and Sprite Technical - replacement fuel pump

I would like to get a new fuel pump for my 73 midget.
I live in USA, Massachusetts where we have 10% ethanol. Most new pumps have the type of rubber that won't get damaged by the ethanol (like the older type). Which fuel pump do people recommend? Is the new SU solid state pump a good choice? Is my car supposed to have a presure regulator? If so where is it?

Thanks,

Rebecca

Rebecca - The all electronic AUF 214 SU fuel pump (OEM pump) should serve you fine. With a SU fuel pump you will not need to use regulator. Cheers - Dave

Facet pump 40105 gives about 2.5 psi and, so long as the valves are white PVC and not black rubber material, you can safely use it with ethanol.
Look down each end and see the colour of the ball that forms the valve. White=good, black=bad.

Common question on homebuilt aircraft sites since some aircraft have crashed due to ethanol killing the pumps!!!

thanks for the comments. One of the reasons why I am aware of the problems with ethanol is because I own a small (2 seats) airplane. I obtained authorization from the FAA to use auto fuel in my plane but it strictly prohibits use of auto fuel that includes ethanol. Although you can test for it I have stopped using it because most fuel in my state (Massachusetts) has it now. there are two airport using airport transfers tonbridges near me that have ethanol free fuel trucked in from New York.
Even without alcohol it is advised that we make sure to have a metal carburetor float. In addition, some fuel tank sealants don't like some of the additives in auto fuel (not to mention that it has a higher vapor pressure - vapor lock can happen when it is hot). The only thing that is good about auto fuel is the lack of lead. My airplane engine was designed to run on a low octane aviation fuel that is no longer available (4 times less lead). Because of this I use a lead scavenger additive (which also acts as a top lubricant - lead is a top lubricant too). This additive is called TCP. My plane has two fuel pumps, the engine driven mechanical pump and the backup electric pump (Facit). Most certified planes have two pumps.
