MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rear springs

Hi, I was driving the midget earlier (1500) when there was a rather unnerving bang from the back end. 2 of the long leafs on the drivers side spring have snapped so I need a couple of new (of good second hand one's). So I'm picking your brains.

What is the difference in 1275 and 1500 rear leaf springs? Is it different loads they will take with the 1500 leafs needing to hold up the damned heavy bumpers? If I, which has always been the plan, debumper the 1500 will 1275 springs be a better bet for the right ride height?

Cheers,

Jon

I have a spare pair of used 1500 springs, if you're interested?

I'm in York on Monday, if that helps.

I can keep them for you in York if you want.
Rob Armstrong

That'd be great if you could. How much do you want for them?

Cheers
J White

Twenty quid for the pair.

Fantastic Dave, You on Facebook?
J White

No, I'm afraid not

On a side note thankfully I used to offroad a Landy so the spring is held together with vice grips and I'm only doing a couple of miles to work and back (straight road as well thankfully)

I'll email you Dave and if you send me your number I'll give you a bell to arrange to meet.

I have been using 1500 springs on my 1275 Midget. After a month or so, the car obtains its original ride height. 1275 springs on the 1500 would make it very low. The last time I had the springs off, I added a leaf to the 1500 set from the 1275 bundle. The ride height as been the same for about 10 years.
