MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rear brake shoe adjuster advice requested 😱

1972 midget.
The rear brake shoe adjuster wedge is siezed. The square end has been rounded. Not by me on this occasion.!!
Is it possible to remove the assembly that carries the wedges that is fitted to back plate.
My thought is to better access the threaded wedge to extract it.
I suspect it is ‘pressed’ in place and not removable.
Confirmation or otherwise would be gratefully received.

If l recall correctly, you can remove the backplate complete with wedges and screw adjuster after removing the brake shoes.

Your best course of action is probably to remove the complete backplate, which will make it much easier to work on.

Even when they aren’t rounded, a seized adjuster can be troublesome to remove, usually requiring a lot of heat.

Depending on how much of it you can see, you may be able to build it up with some weld, in order to get a spanner on it. The heat from welding may also help to unseize it.

Took me about 4 hours of trying with the usual methods before I ended up welding a nut to it and got it out that way.
