MG Midget and Sprite Technical - RC40 question

I want to fit an RC40 back box to my '71 Sprite. I have an LCB stainless manifold. I don't want to use the existing through pipe as its fairly narrow so want a pipe that fits over the manifold exit. What have other RC40 users done? Magic midget sell a single box RC40 system for £75 including through pipe. Has anyone any experience of this?

We have the magic midget RC40 on our midget, fits well and works - tell Kim the diameter of your LCB end and he will make sure you get the right pipe.

Bought a 1.5m length of pipe (think its 1 3/4 dia) cut it to the right length. Then cut three or four slots in it to allow it to bend slightly up to meet the RC40 box, and then welded them up. It cost £10 and I think most exhaust shops will be able to supply it because it was by Bosal. Been on 3 years now with no probs. Passes noise test at 98 db. Think the RC40 cost near on £50 so Kim's £75 sounds very reasonable.

When using an LCB, the pipe involved is generally not very complex. Easy enough to buy a length of exhaust pipe of the desired diameter and give it a slight bend just past the rear axle. Measure three times and cut once ;-) Make sure your measurements involve having the joint at the exit of the muffler line up with the existing hanger mount on the bottom of the boot.

I have the Maniflow LCB on mine with the RC40 Box and pipe all supplied by Kim at Magic Midget as well.
I can't remeber how much it cost but I'm very happy with it.
It's louder and lower in pitch than my old sustem but actually easier on the ears for prolonged journeys.
I did have to have a different mounting made for the rear of the frogeye though as without bending the middle pipe, it exits just under the nearside rear overider (on the Frogeye).

If its any help Jetex do a range of custom exhaust parts, straights, 90 bends, 45 bends, flexible sections etc etc, in a range of sizes and materials at good prices...

Im intending on using them to build my centre twin exit system next year.

Dont forget that the through pipe from Kim is 304 grade stainless and will never rot out!!! You could even go for a stainless RC40 or one of his re-packable silencers and never have to worry about the exhaust again!!!
