MG Midget and Sprite Technical - New clutch
| Hi I am trying to find and fit a new clutch to my midget -61. The problem is that my engine is from a Morris Minor series 3 (engine no APJM-H-13145) I want to match this engine with a smooth gearbox case that I have. Can I use the clutch drive components for a Midget I (the early one, to engine no 9CG DAH 2139, Clutch Kit order no GCK254AF in MOSS catalogue)? One other thing that is confusing, is that MOSS also has a Clutch Kit (order no GCK102X) that is supposed to include the same items (release bearing, clutch cover assembly and clutch plate) and I mean same items because these three have the same individual ordering no in both kits. But this kit is for later engines, from no 9CG DAH 2140. What is the difference? Or do I have to get a clutch kit from a Morris dealer? Also, after my rebuild of the engine, what kind of oil is best? Mineral or synthetic oil? I am into year three on my restoration of my Midget and it have cost more time and money than planned (anyone heard that before?) but gradually things are coming together. If all goes well the drivetrain will go in this summer and THEN it is just some small things left! (you have never heard that one either?) I have seen that some of you have complained on MOSS prices, just want you to know that for me it is about 30-40 % cheaper to get my MG stuff from them (including freight) than it is to buy in Sweden. // Sven |
