MG Midget and Sprite Technical - mysterious bit

Good day to you people in the know!
while preparing for an engine and gearbox change from a 948 to a 1275 in my mk2 i have managed to find all parts required bar one.
The engine is a (whisper it) morris ital one. It has a funny clutch activator arm, which i have, but it also needs a "release bearing carrier".

Does anyone know this problem item and possibly where they grow?

I have searched the net without luck.

Would be grateful for being pointed in the right direction!
Thank you for reading

Which gearbox are you using...?

Mark.

Hi Mark, i'm using the Ital box which i think is pretty much a 1500 one. It was the one mated to the engine. I have the appropriate bellhousing too.
I have added an image of the activator arm below.
the bit somehow sits on those two little cylinders.
Any ideas?

The Ital box is a 1500 midget box with a long input shaft. Not sure about the ratios without checking.

I probably do have the bit you need as I have a complete Marina/Ital bellhousing I'm planning on scrapping if it doesn't sell one e-bay for fifty pence.

However, are you really sure you want to do this? Although it has been done before there will be a number of tight fit things, funny position of the starter etc. Why don't you just get a 1275 backplate, flywheel and ribbed case box, etc. It will be easier in the long run and weight a lot less.

Finally, are you sure the engine is Ital and not Marina. Of course there are books with this stuff in!

Good point. I have bought a new clutch for it, so i'm hesitant. On the up-side, i think my 948 is matched to a ribbed box now from what i can see. If that means the backplate will also fit the ital engine it would be possible without much of a problem. I suppose i'll keep my fingers crossed on that one.
But would you sell me the bearing carrier if you are seperating it from the housing? That way i'd have both options covered.
