MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget wing fitted badley

I have a 1500 midget with a badley fitted left hand front wing a 10mm gap from the A piller
are there some bad panels about or has it been fitted badley
when i lay the car up for the winter im going to try and refit it
has any one had this before in ther rebuild
any info please

How does the bonnet align with the cowl and wings? That's the real key to start aligning panels around. Set the bonnet to cowl gap and then you should be able to shim and adjust the wings to both match the edge of the bonnet and get a good gap at the A pillars and sill. If not then perhaps theres been some damage or some bodged panel repair in the car's past.

Hi Brian, I've been having some difficulty with a 1967 Sprite too. I acquired a good wing and already had a rough one that I repaired - the good wing had raised spacing which fitted nicely to the A post but on the other wing the raised bits were flattened - perhaps by a bodger. In the end to get a good fit on the top of the sill and the front of the a post I had to cut the wing along the bottom and the back, open up the gap and bridge the gap with weld and skim with filler. Seems to have done the trick - hth
