MG Midget and Sprite Technical - K series starter
Can anyone help with a starter for a K type midget. I have a bell housing from Moor Lane and a spacer. I am using the type 9 gearbox and the Rover flywheel. Any help would be appreciated.

David, Have a look over on the "Twin cam 16v K ser - Midgets and B's" subject and "starter spacer" thread. Mick gave some details of the starter he got off ebay for a K.

surely you just take the old unit into a factor and say 'one of these please' ?

David -- NO!! the one off the k series fits the other way around - so it rotates the opposite direction. I toyed with the idea of a sierra starter, but got the chance of a proper one at the right price!
Mick - nearly ready to paint
so I obviously am not understanding the question !

David - if you mean the 'old unit' from the original car, then the answer is no, since the starter for FWD / MGF is on the gearbox end; for in-line applications, you install the starter from the block direction. So the starter needs to turn the other way round. A

Dean Stanton is swapping his Moorlane Garage 1.6 to a vvc at Frontline. This could mean his old starter(different one for vvc acording to thread on Twincam 16v K midgets and Bs chapter on this bbs) could get available?
