MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Intermittent wipers
Anyone have one of the Maplin M2599 wiper controllers? It's cheap, but is it any good? Is it easy enough for an electronics dunce like me to assemble and fit? And why does my wiper motor have a red and green cable hanging out with no corresponding connection on the loom? Is it a two-speed motor? As ever, thanks in advance, Mark |

| I had one once on my old midget from the previous owner. It 'blew', I never fitted one again. It was handy, but then I've grown to love the humour of having to 'simulate' intermittent wipers myself. They're relatively easy to fit, and you can do it without chopping wires if you're clever and make up some spade Y-connectors, unlike the previous owner on mine who had cannabalised half the wiring. Ahem. |

| All of our modern cars have intermittent wiper controls, but I've noticed that I still touch the wiper controls frequently to adjust the speed, because they always seem to slow or too fast. So on my Frogeye, I'm just going to fit a momentary switch that is in a convenient location to activate the wipers for a swipe or two at a time. |

| Smartscreen is an easy to fit gadget which allows you to control the delay time for intermittent wipe. They have a website, www.smart-screen.co.uk |
