MG Midget and Sprite Technical - hiff air filter bolts

My apologies for the basic question, but what size and type of bolt holds the air filters to the threaded holes in my hif44 carb.

I have an assorted box of unf bolts but none seem to do the job.

tm, might be metric 6 or 8mm

HIF were on Metros and Maestros etc werent they? Mostly metric cars.

I just found some in my biscuit tin that did the job, never looked to see what type hey were.
