MG Midget and Sprite Technical - hardtop fitted at last

Sorry lads you will probably find this boring, just want to get a message to Richard,

Hi, Richard at Clevedon, good news Richard got the hardtop on at last it was a tight fit, looks good, I'll leave it on for a couple of day to settle in, then fill in any small holes and prime and paint, I'll post you some picks when done, thanks for your help.

ps: I'll try a little survey, guys, as you can see from my pic. my midget is Brooklands green, what colour should I do the hard top:

White or black or
Same as car

any ideas welcome, see what the majority say!

cheers Jack.

Works style top?
Then black or white dependant on the colour of the car

Ashley or other fastback style.
Body colour
Onno Könemann

Yes it is a works style Onno, so your saying black, so I've got white, black and same as car at present, this might be a toss of a coin thing!

but I guess if I want to keep it correct it will be black or ivory white.

whatch this space for end result in few weeks.

thanks boys, cheers Jack.

I think that to keep it correct in period with the car it should be black then.

Hi Jack - good news - glad it fitted O.K.

Why 'works style' ?

It has an internal glass fibre lining, glass windows, alloy guttering - so I believe its an original works unit.

I like the old english white/ivory colour- thats why I bought it for my BRG (GN27) Green RWA. I think the colour contrast works well.

The gel coat is in very good condition - much better than paint !

I would give it a power polish with a good yacht cleaner (Farecla etc) then polish it with a few coats of yacht wax - Starbrite/Polyshine etc and see how it looks - should have a really good shine - well that was my plan.

Regards,

R.

Hi Richard, thanks for the info, sorry about my bad english I did mean it was a works top (not style), yes I like the whit also, so I may give it a try with the yacht cleaner and wax, certainly easier than painting. hope your party went well not too bad a hangover?

cheers Jack.
