MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Gunson E Z BLEED

Anyone know if I can get an adaptor for my EZ bleed that I can use on my massive brake reservoir on my 1500.

C L Carter

Yes.
That size used to be one of the standard ones supplied with the kit.
Guy

Really? Its not anymore... nothing anywhere near that size in my kit. I wonder if my master cylinder isn't standard... I would say its about 3" in diameter... will measure it tomorrow.

Christian,
I have had my Eazibleed kit for years. They used to come with about 7 or 8 different caps. I suspect the newer kits aren't so generous, and they now sell them as extras.
Guy

buy a spare lid and mod the old one to suit...
David Smith

I've had two EeziBleeds as I loaned my first one out to someone and forgot who it was. Anyway neither the first nor the second one had a top for the later Master Cylinder so as Dave says I bought a spare top and used that.

However, not only do you have to drill the hole in the top for the liquid to pass through under pressure, you also need to pull out the second skin from under the central part of the lid otherwise you won't be able to tighten the fluid feed pipe union into the lid.

I bought a second lid for the second EeziBleed at race retro and it was about £7. Just got to fit it and then bleed the Junior race car with it and then the job will be a good one.

I took and old cap, and modified it to fit
Phil Burke

Christian,

Like Andrew, I used a spare reservoir cap. If you go down this route don't forget to block-off the air bleed hole in the top of the cap or things could get a bit messy. I closed mine off with a self tapping screw.

In the paperwork that came with the eezybleed kit there was reference to the fact that if the collection of caps didn't contain the one you wanted, then they would be able to supply the correct one on request.

Christian,

Drop gunson an email, I have had very good service from them in the past.

They do multi-purpose caps on their website:

http://www.gunson.co.uk/tools.aspx?cat=674

I've not used one as I have a 1500 with the older style caps so one of the supplied ones fitted no problem.

The 'buy a new one & drill it to fit the nipple' seems to be a cheaper option though!

Well Gunson were no use at all... they simply apologised and said that all the caps are listed on the kit.

I'm not even sure the multicaps would fit they are 67mm max... without measuring I'm not sure thats big enough.

I need to source an old cap and make one myself - time to keep my eyes peeled on ebay. Or I could ask Andy Jennings next time I'm getting something from him.
