Why would you want to?

I'm building a hillclimb and sprint midget and was wondering if it made any difference ?

When I first built my A35 racer, I fitted a Midget gearbox, but I couldn't bolt down the cover which retains the gearlever. I discovered that the distance between the two balls on the gearlever was longer on the A35, so it wouldn't fit the remote.

Rather than remove the gearbox to change the remote, I welded the top of the A35 gearlever to the bottom of the Midget gearlever, but there was way too much throw on the lever.

On my racing Sprite, I had always intended to do the opposite - i.e. use the remote from an A35 or minor with a shortened gearlever, which should have produced a 'quickshift'. However, I never got around to it.
