MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Fuel line clips - Att: Norm Kerr

Some time ago, Norm posted some pictures of the fuel line routing on his red midget restoration, where he had run a return/vapor recovery line parallel to the original feed line. I have attached one of them. If you look carefully, there appear to be clips at each end of the rails retaining the fuel lines. It looks like they just pop into holes drilled into the rails.

I can't find these clips on the Moss or English Parts websites, and have also done some general searches without success.

Norm, if you're on the bulletin board these days, could you please tell me where you got the clips? I am hoping that by varying the size of the hole they slip into, I can use them to secure a 5/16" line, which I am using for the high-pressure delivery circuit in my EFI system. The original 1/4" line will return fuel from the regulator to the swirl tank, which I've mounted in the trunk, adjacent to the filler neck.

In case Norm is otherwise occupied, if anyone else recognizes these clips, please fee free to chime in. I don't want to use 'P' clips and the like, as I like the neat routing and protected location of the original line. So, clips like Norm used seem to be the best option.

Thanks very much,

Joel.

Dave,

Bloody fantastic. Thank you!

You'll notice how lame Moss's U.S. website is, as they do not list anything like the detail you guys get. Here's the equivalent page we get. http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=120164

Lesson learned: default to the UK website and pay the freight across the pond, for crying out loud.

Copper... nice

Joel try .... jegs or summit racing, for something like that im sure they would have something very close. the shipping fees and other fees compared to the cost of the item would be off the scale to ship over seas and the risk of loss in shipping for such a small package would be fairly high

Im not so certian those clips cant be found in the plumbing section of home depot next to the soft copper tubing and copper plumbing fittings

Hi guys,

Glad you found the clips on the Moss UK site (I agree, the Moss US site is lame, and so I usually shop using the UK site, regardless of where I buy from).

The clips on my car came with it, so they are very long lasting (my car was super rusted out, reclaimed from a scrap yard).

Prop, not sure what you are referring to, item #77 in David's link is the winner.

BTW, I've purchased any number of parts directly from UK sources, for shipment to my home in Michigan, (usually when they are the only ones selling them, but sometimes because they are much, much cheaper) and most of the time found the postage very reasonable, and never had anything damaged or lost. If the seller is not savvy they can ship in a way that would run the cost up terribly, but the more experienced shops all do fine.

Thanks, Norm.

I, too, have bought several things from the UK, shipped to my high-desert home without problems--other than the FedEx jerk resisting standing still long enough for me to (for instance) unwrap my Maniflow LCB to inspect for damage before signing off. Not q-u-i-t-e the level of service one imagines after watching Tom Hanks in "Castaway."

Since you're around, do you agree that the OEM clips would accommodate 5/6" line if I were to drill a slightly larger hole, to allow the jaws to spread a bit? My high-pressure feed line is 5/6".

I don't know, maybe.

They are flexible, so you might get lucky.
