MG Midget and Sprite Technical - earth wire

hi all.i have just noticed that my earth wire under the spidget is broken(thanks to a small branch on rd)it is the one at the bottom of gearbox which i would say goes to the chassis, thats an easy fix,but the reason for asking is that my rev counter and brake lights have stopped working.would this have any think to do with the earth wire.i have checked the fuses and they are all ok.thanks alan.

If the engine starts, it's well-earthed!

The only thing common to the rev counter and brake lights (and IIRC the reversing lights) is that they all are supplied with 12v with the green wire. This is fused - supplied by the opposite white wire which is the ignition (which isn't fused...).

So I'd check fuses again.

(Just replaced the old 4-fuse box with 2 4-blade fuse boxes to better accommdate the Emerald, elec cooling fan, change-up light... so am a temporary expert on this, until the brain fades, that is!)
