MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Early 1968 Midget British Racing Green Colour Code
| Please can anyone advise on what the likely correct British Racing Green (GN) body paint colour code would have been for an early January 1968 built midget? Regards. |

| Be careful if trying to colour match. I initially sprayed the Frog interior in GN29 celly BRG from Jawels. Painting the ouside a few years later, I continued with the GN29 I had and ran low part way through, with the weather about to soon change, so ordered more in a hurry.
I was spraying the entire car and when I came to flat and compound, found it was going through to a darker colour here and there. The penny didn't drop until a while later when I realised my second lot of colour wasn't GN29, but rather a RAL code (6009) sold as BRG by Jawels (it isn't BRG on the RAL chart). There are other BRG variants too so it's essential to get the correct colour match. |

| I've managed to find the original invoice for the paint that was used on the car when it received a full re-spray in 2001, the colour noted is British Racing Green BMC/GN29 no.1 1963-1970). So I need to find a sample match to this paint to compare it, if that's at all possible. |

| Jawels (Birmingham area) supply aerosols filled with your choice of paint e.g. GN29 BRG for about £17 plus postage (or pick up from one of their shops). Or they supply ready mixed 50/50 celly e.g. 250ml tin for about £15. I've had both and colours match mine (you must specify the paint code). Good overnight postal service. |
